Video: Stacy Perman Discusses Her In-N-Out Book

July 23, 2009

Stacy Perman at Books Inc.

FORA.tv has a great video of BusinessWeek writer Stacy Perman discussing her book “In-N-Out Burger: A Behind-the-Counter Look at the Fast-Food Chain That Breaks All the Rules” at Books Inc. in Mountain View, Calif., last week.

Over the course of the talk, Perman reveals how she was inspired to write the book, gives a thorough summary of the chain’s history, and takes questions from the audience. It’s packed with great In-N-Out trivia and definitely worth watching, especially if you’re too lazy or cheap to read the book. And although the video is nearly an hour long, don’t worry — FORA.tv has chopped it up into bite-size chapters for you.

Business Author Matthew E. May Praises In-N-Out

July 19, 2009

Matthew E. May — Pepperdine Business School professor and author of the books “In Pursuit of Elegance: Why the Best Ideas Have Something Missing” and “The Elegant Solution: Toyota’s Formula for Mastering Innovation” — praises In-N-Out in the latest LeanBlog.org video podcast.

May uses the infamous fade-to-black ending of “The Sopranos” to illustrate the notion of how “what isn’t there can sometimes be more powerful and trump what is there” and then goes on to claim In-N-Out’s secret menu and slow expansion work the same way.

Check out the video above. The In-N-Out talk begins around four minutes in.

Free Shuttle To LAX In-N-Out: The How-To Video

March 5, 2009

Savvy air travelers have known for years that you can catch a free round-trip ride from Los Angeles International Airport to the nearby In-N-Out on Sepulveda Boulevard. Well, when NBC’s Brian Williams recently gushed about grabbing grub there, we got to thinking: How long does such a trip actually take?

The Big Yellow Arrow blog is based in L.A., so we’ve never had to rely on airport shuttles to score a Double-Double. But for the sake of science we figured a trip to LAX with a stopwatch was in order — that is, until we checked YouTube and found a fantastic video that’s admittedly gobs better than what we had planned. Check it out:

Dinner And A Show!

Different people have different ways of expressing their love of In-N-Out — and these people are definitely different. Check out the impromptu show that diners at the Santa Clarita In-N-Out were recently treated to:

Baby Doesn’t Share Parents’ Enthusiasm

February 24, 2009

Think back to the first time you visited In-N-Out. Now think back even further, to when you were still a tiny, tiny baby. Back then, your burping, puking, drooling little mouth probably would’ve preferred a stuffed animal’s ear to a juicy, delicious Double-Double. So forgive lil’ Nova if it seems like she doesn’t understand how much love her parents are showing her by introducing her to In-N-Out at such a young age.

Battle Of The In-N-Out Tribute Songs

February 19, 2009

Yesterday four students at Golden State Baptist College hit YouTube with a video for their acoustic ode to everybody’s favorite burger chain. The clip features goofy dancing, fight scenes and fake dreadlocks, but most of all it showcases their undeniable love of In-N-Out.

We scanned YouTube and found a few other people who’d been similarly inspired recently. Check out AsianGlow’s parody of John Legend’s “Green Light” and young rapper J.Peso’s “In-N-Out’ rap, and then vote for your favorite:
