With Conan O’Brien about to move West to take over “The Tonight Show,” frequent “Late Night” guest Brian Williams dropped in to say goodbye last night. When the “NBC Nightly News” anchor jokingly turned down Conan’s invitation to appear on the new show, their conversation led down a path that revealed a shared love of In-N-Out:
Conan O’Brien: I will lure you with something that I know you love: You love fast food. I know that about you, and Los Angeles has some of the best fast food in the world.
Brian Williams: Fantastic. Just start at LAX, which is where all things start. … On Sepulveda, right outside the airport grounds, you’ve got the In-N-Out Burger, which is just …
(Applause cuts him off)
O’Brien: That’s the entire reason for my move to Los Angeles, the In-N-Out Burger.
Williams: It’s the Lutèce, it’s the 21 of fast food. I like to ram two of those down right before the redeye.
O’Brien: That’s a peaceful sleep. That’s better than an Ambien, two of those.
Williams: It’s a nice feeling — let that beef fat get in there and then get in your pores and share as much as possible with your seatmate.
